Ryalto

Ryalto is an app aimed at Healthcare Professionals; offering them Shift Booking functionality as well as a newsfeed to keep them up to date and a chat and discover system to connect colleagues across healthcare.

I joined Ryalto in September 2018 as UX/UI Designer, before long the took on a more varied "Head of Design" role when I became sole Designer, handling all UX and UI designs for the iOS and Android version of the app, as well as revitalising the brand, creating brand guidelines, designing and developing the website and supporting all marketing materials etc

One major project I completed was reinvigorating the chat system. After the dev team completed improvements to the chat on the backend we wanted to improve the UX and UI of the chat/discover and directory functions. Improving the User Experience of finding users to start new conversations and chat groups using our "Discover" functionality and refreshing the overall UI of chat/app.

I use Material Design guidelines for the Android App as that was implemented before I arrived (also I'm a fan of Material) and for usability reasons (especially on things like chat) try to keep both iOS and Android close to the system guidelines.

Chat/Discover

Below are just some examples of a the Chat/Discover Wireframes

This was an early layout testing different ways to implement the discover search functionality within the app. Originally I wanted to drastically reduce the initial filter options but working with our product manager and implementation based on user research we decided to still reduce the initial search options but not too much

Profile updates

Another major change I implemented was an update of the profile screen. Originally Ryalto had a largely unused profile screen as one of the main parts of the bottom nav bar. I decided to move it to the top status bar turning into a small drawer menu which displayed profile, notification, help & settings. The idea was to make those easier to access and also tidy up the navigation bar.

I also redesigned the profile screen to make it more visually pleasing to the user as this layout would also be used when viewing other members user profiles.

Part of my role as the only designer was to establish brand guidelines and support the company in marketing materials etc. The Ryalto logo and colours had already been created so using that I outlined brand guidelines which you can see here and created icons and imagery to use throughout including the app (Android uses Material design icons)

I also designed and developed the Ryalto website, although no longer live, it's good to see the brand hasn't changed much. https://www.ryaltogroup.com/
